Zita has long been fascinated and inspired by manhole covers, and considers them a kind of “urban jewel.” During her documentation, she discovered more than 40 different types of manhole covers, just in downtown Budapest. The regular, illustrative, mandala-like circular shapes, under which the city’s sewer system hides, regularly appear in revised and redrawn forms on her graphics, T-shirts, and booklets, as not-so-typical symbols of Budapest. Two types of necklaces are now available from these manhole cover reworkings.
